Wealthsimple is one of Canada's largest fintech platforms, offering commission-free stock and ETF trading, a robo-advisor, a chequing account, and crypto trading, all starting with as little as $1 to open an account, a meaningfully lower barrier than Questrade's $1,000 minimum.

How the referral reward works

• You get $25 cash for each friend who opens a new account through your referral link.
• Your friend also gets $25 cash for signing up through your link.
• The deposit must be at least $100 from outside the Wealthsimple ecosystem (peer-to-peer transfers and Wealthsimple-issued bonuses don't count) within 30 days of signing up.

What changed: the old $2,000 Referral Ladder

Worth knowing if you've seen older articles mentioning bigger numbers: Wealthsimple used to run a tiered "Referral Ladder" that could pay a referrer up to $2,000 for referring very large accounts. That program closed on June 8, 2026, and was replaced with the single flat $25 bonus described above, which applies regardless of how much the referred friend ultimately deposits. Referral relationships established before the closure date remain grandfathered under the old tiered terms, but any new referral today falls under the flat $25 structure.

How to claim it

1. Use a referral link when opening your Wealthsimple account.
2. Complete account setup.
3. Deposit at least $100 from an external source within 30 days.
4. Both $25 bonuses are typically deposited within about 24 hours of the funding requirement being met.
